AKSK Director Igli Tafa: Albania Moving Towards a Safer Digital Financial Sector

The National Cybersecurity Authority (AKSK), in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, organized the event “The Future of Cybersecurity in the Financial Sector”, bringing together representatives from Albania’s leading financial institutions. The event focused on the challenges and opportunities brought by the digital transformation of the financial sector, as well as on strengthening capacities to address increasing cybersecurity threats.

AKSK Director General, Igli Tafa, emphasized that cybersecurity is the foundation of financial stability, and that only through close collaboration between the government, the banking sector, and international partners can a resilient and secure ecosystem be built. He shared the Albanian Government’s vision for an advanced digital economy, highlighting the importance of DORA standards, Financial SOC initiatives, electronic identification, blockchain integration, and preparation for quantum threats — elements that will form a new layer of protection for the financial sector in the coming years.

The event concluded with a Tabletop Exercise (TTX) on Cyber Resilience and Information Sharing, where participants tested readiness and coordination against advanced attack scenarios, sharing best practices to enhance resilience and effective information exchange.
